About Me
My first step into counselling began when I graduated with a degree in Social Work from York University in 1999. Prior to that degree, I had a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. I started my career with positions in advocacy, child protection, and research and community engagement.
I then completed my Master of Education in Counselling and worked for 11 years as a crisis counsellor with the Ottawa Police Service. The next step in my educational journey was completing a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Waterloo which included an 8-month internship with the Royal Ottawa Hospital’s Operational Stress Injuries Clinic. I provided support to members of the RCMP and Canadian Forces who were struggling with PTSD, operational stress, anxiety, and depression.
I currently work with both individuals and couples, having completed training in Gottman Method Couples therapy. Many of my clients are First Responders and Military members (funded through Blue Cross and Veterans Affairs).
I work with individuals confronting:
PTSD
Trauma
Operational Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship issues
Transitional times (job loss, career transition, separation and divorce)
